The apiary is an important venue for both experienced and new beekeepers to share practical expertise; for "Taster Sessions" for prospective new beekeepers; for the practical part of the Beginners' Course; for BBKA exams; and for carrying out procedures like queen rearing. Apiary Sessions are held usually on the second Sunday of the month, May to September, at 2.15pm - see 2020 dates in the calendar - and currently take place at Ochran Farm, Llanover. - News late 2019 is that we have to move from this site and are currently looking for a new apiary site.
Directions: The Association Apiary is located at Ochran Farm, Llanover. Proceed north on the A4042 through Llanover; shortly after a lane on the left hand side signposted Upper Llanover, there is another turning on the left leading to a track past a cottage up to Ochran Farm. Heading south on the A4042 from Llanellen, the turning for Ochran Farm is on the right hand side after passing a lay-by on the left hand side of the road.
Bee suits are available for use by visitors and beginners.
Apiary Sessions normally start at 2:15pm Sessions for 2020 will be published in the Spring.
