Do you have a Bee Hive?

Then please register your Apiary with Bee Base. We fully support the work of the National Bee Unit looking after the health and welfare of UK honey bees and would like to encourage all Beekeepers, irrespective of membership of GBK, to register on the NBU's website, Beebase.

If you are a member of GBK, BeeBase registration is NOT automatic. Please register your apiary on BeeBase using the link above.

Education

We offer a programme of monthly lectures over the winter months and monthly sessions at the association apiary during the summer, in addition to regular newsletters and social events where there is a lot of talking done about beekeeping.

Adopt a hive

Honey Bees really need your help. You can help the bees by helping to sponsoring a hive at GBK CIO's Apiary.

Bees for Development

The Association's president is Nicola Bradbear of Bees for Development. The association has trained beekeepers for the Forgotten Landscape Project centred on the Blaenavon World Heritage Site.

National Honey Monitoring Scheme

Both honeybees and wild bees have suffered declines in recent years. These are thought to be linked to agricultural intensification, including pesticide use and loss of habitats/ floral resources, as well as the emergence of new diseases and climate change. Their sensitivity to the way we manage land in the UK has long been a cause for concern.

Working in partnership with UK beekeepers, the National Honey Monitoring Scheme aims to use honeybees to monitor long-term changes in the condition and health of the UK countryside. However, we need the help of beekeepers if this scheme is to work.
