The association also provides swarm collection, equipment hire and a beekeeping library - as well as a friendly venue to meet other beekeepers, old and new alike
Members enjoy membership of the British Beekeepers' Association BBKA, as well as Bee Disease Insurance BDI cover.

The association president is Nicola Bradbear of Bees for Development.

The association has trained beekeepers for the Forgotten Landscape Project centred on the Blaenavon World Heritage Site.
Prospective beekeepers are welcome to attend 'Taster Sessions' at the association apiary prior to applying for our comprehensive Beginners Course, which comprises both theoretical and practical sessions.
Gwent Beekeepers CIO is an active group with around 150 members, ranging from hobbyists to bee farmers, covering the area of Monmouthshire, Newport, Torfaen, Blaenau Gwent and Caerphilly.

We offer a programme of monthly lectures over the winter months and monthly sessions at the association apiary during the summer, in addition to regular newsletters and social events where there is a lot of talking done about beekeeping.
